The Unexpected Gifts of Meditation

Some of you know that I have been studying sound and energy healing for about 15 years, and that crystal alchemy singing bowls are my newest passion.  What you may not know is that I am certified in four different healing modalities: I am a sound healer, a Reiki Master, a practitioner of The Energy Codes, and of bioenergetics.  I am currently in a healing practitioner support circle, and one of the commitments made within the group is to a daily meditation chant. Several mornings ago in my daily meditation chant, I experienced something that touched me deeply, and thought I would share it with you.

As I chanted the designated Sanskrit phrases sequentially, I visualized a stream of energy rising up from the base of my spine, rotating counterclockwise.  I directed it up the front of my spine through each of the body’s energy centers.  As it reached my heart space, emotions rose up unexpectedly, and tears streamed down my face.  My first thought was that these were feelings of grief and loss, as I had just moved from a neighborhood that I loved, leaving behind friends, a beautiful beach, my garden.  But as I allowed the feelings to release, and I resumed the chant, I realized that the tears were not of grief, but of JOY.  Joy because the energy was touching and opening a new space in my heart center.  I understood this center was full of pure love, and at this particular moment, that love was meant for me - self-love.  This was the sustainable energy that would free me from looking for love outside of myself.  And with this deeper self-love, my capacity to love others would deepen as well.  I moved into a space of profound gratitude, and slowly brought my awareness out of the meditation, and back to the present moment. Namaste.
